Jessica started a private dispute resolution practice in June 2021. Through Ex Juris, Jessica is pleased to offer interest-based and evaluative mediations, arbitrations, and neutral assessments and investigations of workplace and institutional harassment and human rights issues. Jessica is committed to fairness, timeliness, and efficiency.  

Jessica was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2002 and the Ontario Bar in 2003. Throughout her career, Jessica has practiced primarily human rights, employment, and labour law. She has worked both in private practice and in neutral administrative tribunal settings. 

With respect to her experience as a neutral, Jessica spent eight years as legal counsel to the BC Human Rights Tribunal where, among other things, she mediated cases and provided legal advice to adjudicators to support them with their decision making. Jessica also represented the Tribunal at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.  

From June 2019 to June 2021, Jessica was an adjudicator at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. Jessica led interests-based and evaluative mediations and mediation/adjudications; conducted summary, preliminary and merits hearings; and decided numerous cases under the Human Rights Code. 

Jessica has her Q. Arb designation through the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. Jessica also provides public and private institutional dispute resolution procedural design, training, support, and advice.
